camp health and safety is stressed in our staff training. All water related activities are
overseen by certified lifeguards and a trained medical supervisor is a regular member of
the camp staff. All staff are trained in first aide and emergency procedures. A doctor is on
call throughout the summer and emergency medical care is only five miles away. In the
event of illness or injury, parents will be immediately notified.
CAMP PROGRAMS:
Camp life involves a group living experience, rich in opportunities to discover and build
individual skills while developing one's sense of environmental awareness. While at
camp, children will have the opportunity to select and participate in activities that interest
them including having an active part in planning camp programs through the Camper
Council. The camping program is progressive, with more challenging opportunities for the
older camper. Our camp is flexible and child-centered, with an emphasis on fun,
adventure, and learning. Combining the individual talents of camp staff opens the door to
creative and fun activities. Each day at camp is packed with a regular schedule of activities so that everyone can
participate in a wide variety of experiences. In addition, each camper has the opportunity to
schedule his/her own activities which can include choices in the following:
Archery: Spend time with our Archery Specialist sharpening your archer skills to become
a member of the "Bull's Eye" club.
Outdoor Living Skills: Progressive learning in outdoor living skills, camp craft, cooking,
compassing, and trail hikes. Completion of previous levels required to earn advancement
emblems.
Waterfront: Canoeing, kayaking, swimming instruction, lake swims, water sports, carnival
games, and floating meals are just some of the water related activities awaiting you.
Participation in some activities may be limited according to swimming abilities. All
waterfront activities are supervised by certified life guards.
Sports & Games: Baseball, soccer, parachutes, frisbee, badmitton, capture-the-flag,
you-name-it-we-play it. Maybe our own World Series or Summer Olympics.
Drama: Skits, talent night, singing, karaoke, clowning, miming, costumes and make-up all
add up to the Lake Vera Variety Show.
Teamwork: Participate in team building activities such as the Ropes Course (not always
available), games and initiatives. Learn to be productive and successful as a team.

camp fires, Stop N' Go dinner, Tajar breakfast, and Baseball lunch.
Theme Days: Backwards Day, Water Carnival, Christmas in July, Halloween Ball, Mardi
Gras, Pirates of Gold Hollow, Luau's, and many other surprises. Not all events occur each

Yuba River: Campers are taken by bus to the State park for an afternoon of swimming
and water play.
Arts & Crafts: No experience at Camp Gold Hollow would be complete without the
traditional Tie-Dyed T-shirt. The Craft Shack is open every day for campers to braid, glue,
color and paint.
Bugs, Slugs & Paws: Explore and learn about our environment through study of plants
and animals. Make plaster casts of animal tracks or create a nature album. Conservation
is a key component to this program and is a working philosophy at Gold Hollow.
